Mid-August, sunny summer days in Greece with 35℃ (95℉)… Half a dozen of people are chatting on messenger and making plans for their ski vacation. Insanity on its best! Perhaps, but a stitch in time saves nine. Austrian Alps had been chosen to be our destination in upcoming March (2017).

Transfer & Accommodation

We decided to book our air tickets with Aegean Airlines since ski equipment is free of charge with just a phone call to customer service in order to add it to your booking. A real money saver deal!!!

Transfers in/out to Munich Airport and daily ones to ski resorts of our preference along with our accommodation was included to our deal.  John was, also, part of the package. Who is that John guy, you will probably wonder? Well, he was our driver, host, ski guide but, above all, our new friend, a team member who followed up (to be honest, we were actually following him!) our schedule from SR to SS. We have reached him through Skiers – Boarders Facebook group.

Skiing

We had six days available and we visited twice Ischgl/ Samnaun and St. Anton am Arlberg, once Sölden and Galtür. Glaciers, peaks above 3.000m, double-decker cable cars, tunnels, lakes, endless ski runs… Need to say anything more? Check their webpages and add them on your bucket lists!

Après-ski

Lively places to be, is Idalp and Kuhstall in Ischgl, Basecamp in St. Anton and Weiberhimml in Galtür. An elegant choice is, also, Balmalp in Lech. Last but not least, spend few hours in Aqua Dome!

You can take a peek here, as well.

Few tips…

Although all the runs were well- groomed every day, a lot of bumps were created before noon. You need to have a good technique or to get there earlier  in season.

Book in advance! 200 days were counting down and we might had been late…

In case you are wondering, we have, already,  booked our next ski trip, in France this time! Winter is coming…
