The Alps and skiing are closely related to anyone’s mind. Almost two years ago, (Jan ’16) we decided to have our winter vacations in Italy. We flew from Thessaloniki to Bergamo (Milan) with Ryanair. There we rent a van from Maggiore (not recommended! Prefer another rental company…) and drove up to our destination Bormio.
Bormio
Bormio ski center has 50km of mostly red runs, including an outstanding Peak to Creek, from Cima Blanca (3.012m) to the village (1.225m), and the famous Stelvio run. Don’t expect any wild apres ski parties or even a decent place to have a drink at night; though, you can spend some quality time on the spa center.
Santa Caterina
Close to Bormio is Santa Caterina Valfurva ski center. Ski runs’ total length reaches 35km, including the famous Deborah Compagnoni run. You are gonna love the place if you are among the ones that enjoy skiing in smaller and way less crowded resorts.
Livigno
Livigno is the most popular resort in the area. Runs up to 110km, fairly cost of stay, tax- free policy. Few of the highlights of that particular place, according to me. We were there only for a day so there is not really much more to say, apart from decent skiing and that it seems to be more lively than the neighbouring village.
Apologies for poor quality images but DSLR and skiing is a bit risky! 😉
