Couple of days off from work in mid November; what better than hiking and an overnight stay high up in the midst of the Piatra Craiului mountains.

Piatra Craiului
The “Prince’s Stone” is a narrow and saw-like mountain ridge in the southern Carpathians. Most popular access point to the National Park is through Zarnesti, a two hours and a half drive north of Bucharest.
Cabana Curmatura
A roughly two hour easy hike will take you from car parking up to Cabana Curmatura; this was the hut we had arranged to spend the night in. Beautiful traditional mountain hut, surrounded by nature in the purest of essence. Nice people, good food and cozy accommodation.

Hiking around
First day we had a clockwise circular hike reaching vf Piatra Mica. On the second day, another one counterclockwise to vf Turnul & Ascutit; longer and more demanding. Both of them, exceptionally rewarding.

Tips
- Weekends can be busy, so make a reservation call in advance
- No card payment, as expected
- The “backbone” of the range is slippery; avoid it with adverse weather
- Overnight staying only in the hut or the cabins; bear in mind the … bears!
