Greece is not exactly a paradise for skiers (an exception could be SkiMos, perhaps!) Anyway, ski resorts are inadequate in every aspect. So, it’s been some years now that we schedule our annual ski vacations abroad. This year’s destination was the world’s largest ski area; Les 3 Vallées in the French Alps.

Les 3 Vallées

The world’s largest ski area, they say… 600km of runs prove them, all the way, right! Apart from the impressive numbers, someone must get there to understand the immense area of these interconnected resorts. Immense, huge, vast… any word that could actually describe how tiny you might feel there!

We did try a lot to take at least a small taste of almost every run; we did it in 6 days! To make short story long, all of us came to a conclusion that the best out of the three valleys was Courchevel. The other two, were too crowded and the groomed pistes were not to  last long during the day.

Après-ski

Nevertheless, every skiable day ended at “La Folie Douce” in Meribel. Honestly, I am rather far from being a party animal myself but these guys there have taken the definition for après-ski in such high level no one can possibly resist.

A present you should offer to yourself is an evening to “Aquamotion“. Relax in warm outdoor pools surrounded by snow or sweat in the sauna. Wander around the place till you sick to get self pampered!

Photos are not of great quality since were taken either w/ iPhone either w/ Gopro. BUT you could enjoy our video here!

Logistics

Booking our flights, with Aegean Airlines from Athens to Geneva, 200 days in advance got us a fair ticket (74 euros for a roundtrip!).

We rent a 9-seat van from Europcar for our transfers. The traffic to get there on Saturday evening was nonetheless crazy!

For our accommodation, we booked the Chalet “Les Marguerites” via AirBnB; an incredible choice! It was located in a small village called Les Chavonnes, 3′ drive to Brides les Bains or 15′ to Courchevel Le Praz. We had the option to take a ski bus to either place.

Food expenses can be extremely enormous, so we did preferred to prepare the meals ourselves.
