Years ago, transferability was harsh and therefore options for breakaways were limited. People used to enjoy the bliss coming from nature nearby their home place. During the recent decades they have turned away their interest, finding new places and ways to spend their spare time overlooking what was once their whole world. Those spots were abandoned and young people knew them only as a forgotten story from the past.

Stenosia Waterfalls

Stenosia, Messenia

One of those hidden paradise spots was well hidden in a quite small village in Peloponnesos named Stenosia. Valantis is a local who is strongly engaged, for years, with hiking. He envisioned a trail like the ones he had visited numerous times the past years on his front step; it was there but no one had ever been there for at least 30 years. Currently, he is putting a lot of personal effort making the trail live again; occasionally other residents and some times visitors help him out. Route starts just outside of the village and follows a nameless river within a gorge; waterfalls are met along the route. Up to this point, the trail ends near an old hydroelectric power plant, used back in ’30s to service Pylos area.

Hopefully, early next year the path is going to be fully ready and signed to welcome anyone who would like to have a pleasant hike between flowing water and green scenery.
